Distance Education and Instructional Design Portfolio

I am working on a MicroMaster’s of Instructional Design and Technology from USMx. My goal is to learn how to create a high-quality distance education program. This website will share my progress.

BIOGRAPHY

Biography

My name is Chrissy Rey. I am a web developer and STEAM Educator, working on a Master’s of Distance Education (MDE) at the University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC).

My undergraduate degree is in Zoology (1995), but shortly after I graduated, the dot-com bubble happened, and I became a web developer, technical trainer, and tech writer. In 2008, I started my own web development agency, Pongos Interactive; we make websites for small businesses, non-profits, and associations.

While the web dev business is great, I wanted to put my science education, technical expertise, and love of teaching to good use, so in 2012, I started Pongos Learning Lab. We teach kids in K-8 coding, robotics, video production, animation, and much more. When the CO VID-19 pandemic started, we moved our classes online. It has been successful, but I want to make sure I’m doing things the “right” way, so decided to get back to school for my MDE.
